NEW TREES

New Trees

The Greens Committee, in conjunction with the DCGU,

have introduced a new local rule to help protect the newly planted trees.

A ball coming to rest near

  • a staked tree that has red markings on the stake, or
  • a tree that has a red marking on the trunk, or
  • where the ball lies in or near the tree, or
  • the tree interferes with the players stance or area of his/hers intended swing,

The player must lift the ball and drop it, without penalty, within one club-length of and not nearer the hole

than the nearest point of relief.  To prevent the ball, when struck, from hitting any part of the tree, thus

causing damage to the tree, the player may, in this situation, drop sideways.
